MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) en banc, sitting as the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC), reconvened Tuesday morning to begin its tally of the election results.
The NBOC first convened Monday night in order to initialize the Consolidated Canvassing System (CCS) which will receive the election results from the Provincial Board of Canvassers (PBOC) all over the country.
Initialization is in order to show that the voting results received by the CCS is zero for all candidates and that it is ready to begin receiving transmissions of election results.
Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr. suspended all proceedings after they have finished the initialization process at around 7 p.m. since voting hours just ended and transmissions were not yet expected.
A total of 36,772 voting centers throughout the country will be sending the results of voting done in 77,829 clustered precincts. There are an estimated 52 million registered voters nationwide.
