Wife helps ailing Durano cast his vote

Walking with a limp,  One Cebu vice gubernatorial candidate Ramon “Boboy” Durano IV entered the  Danao Central School to cast his vote at 10:340 a.m. yesterday.

With wife Lennie by his side, Boboy walked slowed to his polling precinct with Durano family members.

Yesterday was only the second time Durano showed up in public after being hospitalized for a stroke in mid April and appearing on stage in a One Cebu rally in Danao City last Friday, the last day of campaigning. But he told Cebu Daily News his  limp was caused by rheumatic arthritis.

“That is why I’m limping. It is curable and non-fatal contrary to what others say,” he said referring to rumors that he was bedridden or already comatose.

Boboy said his doctor had advised him to stop campaigning for a month.

“I am just recovering but I am now fine. Anyway, instead of praying for me, tiwasan man nuon ta nila (they would rather end me),” he said of his critics.

He dismissed rumors about him getting junked from the One Cebu slate by standard bearer Pablo John Garcia, saying he was in constant contact with his runningmate.

“Every week he would give me an update on my progress in the different districts,” he said.

He said if elected, he would act as the “ringmaster” in the Provincial Board. Boboy’s father, Danao City Mayor Ramon “Boy” Durano Jr. voted in Sabang Elementary School at 10:20 a.m.

Boy Durano’s opponent is his youngest brother Danao City Vice Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano III who voted in Guinsay Elementary School with his sons, running mate Red Durano and congressional candidate Ace Durano and their wives. /Peter L. Romanillos and Fe Marie Dumaboc, Correspondents
