Cebuano forward Jan Colina scored when it mattered the most as his basket secured a crucial 73-69 win for the Fruitas Shakers over the Café France Bakers in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup yesterday at the JCSGO Gym in Quezon City.
Colina, a former standout for the University of Cebu Baby Webmasters, scored only two points but his putback off a miss by Pong Escobal pushed their lead to 72-69 with just seconds remaining in the contest.
In the other game, Blackwater Sports snapped a two-game skid by defeating Hog’s Breath, 85-75.
The Elite finished the eliminations with an 8-4 record but will have to wait for the result of the Fruitas-Boracay Rum game at the close of the elimination round on Thursday to determine their playoff position.Should Fruitas finish the elims tied with Blackwater Sports, the Shakers will advance outright to the semifinal. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
