Despite the heavy downpour last Sunday morning, the first ever San Isidro Parish Run managed to gather around 600 runners at the San Isidro Parish School in barangay Talamban, Cebu City.
At the end of the race, Mary Joy Tabal and her partner John Philip Duenas emerged victorious in the 16-kilometer category of the event, which aims to raise funds for the renovation and improvement of Talamban’s San Isidro Parish Church.
Tabal clocked one hour, six minutes and 48 seconds to win the women’s division while Duenas finished in 57 minutes and 55 seconds to top the men’s race.
Cristy Tutor finished second place with a time of one hour, 22 minutes and 15 seconds while Mary Jane Beboso settled for third place with a time of one hour, 22 minutes and 56 seconds.
In the men’s race, Joebert Carolino placed second with a time of 58 minutes and four seconds while Prince Joey Lee finished third with a time of one hour, one minute and 45 seconds.
In the 10k race, Jan Daryl Manos emerged on top in the men’s category with a time of 33 minutes and 53 seconds while Patt Torremoro captured the women’s title with a time of 48 minute and 54 seconds.
Andro Mijares finished second (36:50) while Jezrel Lauron (38:44) wound up third in the men’s side.
Michelle Beboso placed second place in the women’s race with a time of 50 minutes and 57 seconds while Nao Idio rounded off the top three with a time of 55 minutes.
Mary Joy Loberanis crossed the finish line first in the 5k race with a time of 20 minutes and 58 seconds while Nar delos Santos topped the male side with a time of 19 minutes and 30 seconds.
In the 3k race, Emil Balena (9:45) and Gleza Pelayre (13:43) took the men’s and women’s crown, respectively. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
