Arroyo, Pineda lead in Pampanga

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Philippines -— Despite her absence in the campaign, detained former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo appeared headed to serve another term in House of Representatives as unofficial results on Monday night showed her leading her closest opponent by a wide margin in Pampanga’s second district race.

Partial and unofficial results released by the local party Kambilan at 9:16 p.m. Monday, showed Arroyo getting 94,826 votes while her opponent, Liberal Party’s Vivian Dabu, getting 9,142 votes.

In the gubernatorial race, reelectionist Gov. Lilia Pineda, the leader of Kambilan, received 317,018 votes while former priest and governor Eddie Panlilio had 72,267 votes.
