'Formatting error' mars PPCRV count

MANILA, Philippines – The temporary suspension of partial unofficial count at Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting on Monday night was only due to “formatting error” but was still correct.

Anna De Villa- Singson, PPCRV media director said the formatting error caused the double count and discrepancies of votes and number of precincts.

She said the error has been fixed by Marlon Garcia of Smartmatic, and will resume after a consistency check.

“The data is correct but not properly formatted when thrown to work station resulting double counting, but it has been corrected,” Singson said.

Garcia had already corrected the script file and has been adjusted.

PPCRV earlier temporarily stopped its quick count as the number of precincts did not match the number of votes, saying it was “too high.”

As of 7:59p.m., PPCRV read out results from 1,287 of 78,166 precincts nationwide, with senatorial candidate Grace Poe leading at 12,586,184 votes.

She said the error has been fixed by Marlon Garcia, and the quick count resumed after almost an hour.

“All the sectors represented in the transparency server room decided as a body to verify the date after the correction was made. Two passes were made which yielded the same results,” Singson said.
