Mayoral candidate’s son beats up volunteer reporter in Sarangani

GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Philippines—A son of a mayoral candidate in Glan town in Sarangani reportedly beat up a volunteer reporter of RMN-Radyo Agong while covering the election at around 9 a.m. Monday.

Volunteer radio reporter Arnel Bendan said he was just standing outside a polling precinct when Victor James Yap Jr., son of reelectionist mayor James Sr., hit him with an elbow.

Bendan said the suspect and three other companions then took turns in beating him up.

Bendan reported the incident to police.
