Foundation to hold operation tuli, school brigade

The Ernesto “Asay” Yu Foundation Inc. of Mr. Yu Group of Companies (EYFI-MYGC) will conduct its first Operation Tuli and its annual brigada eskwela (school brigade) this month.

Eighty children from barangay Pardo are targeted to benefit from the free circumcision during the Operation Tuli, a new offering of the foundation that will take place on May 17.

The barangay will provide medical personnel who will conduct the circumcision procedures.

Operation Tuli is a new corporate social responsibility (CSR) project proposed under the medical mission program of the foundation.

The foundation has six CSR programs that started last 2009. These include education, environment, livelihood, primary health and child care, medical mission and share a blessing project.

Yu’s family started the community relations with an informal help giving until they finally build the EYFI in 2009 which became a community extension service of the government.

The foundation’s educational program offers college and VocTech scholarships, distributes school supplies in the cities of Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue and Cebu and helps renovates schools through the Brigada Eskwela. Its primary health and child care program involved the feeding of 100 children suffering from malnutrition.

The Brigada Eskwela will be conducted in the foundation’s two adopted schools in the Visayas and will be participated by MYGC’s 16 branches.

MYGC has three Mactan Rural Banks in Car-Car, Lapu-Lapu and Mactan, 11 branches of Mr. Yu Finance Corp. and two Citizens Lending Corp. /CORRESPONDENT Christine Emily L. Pantaleon
