With faster counting of ballots, results in hours

How long does it take before the PCOS machine will be ready to print the election returns?

Just a few minutes after the closure of voting, the PCOS machine will be ready with the figures and the first set of election returns – eight for national positions and eight for local positions will be ready for printing by the PCOS machine.

How will the public know the results of the voting in a clustered precinct if there are only eight returns that would be printed?

The entries in the election returns will be read aloud in the clustered precinct by the BEI so that the votes for each candidate in the clustered precinct will be known.

A copy of the election returns will be posted outside the polling precinct so the public may read it.

Twenty-two more copies of the same election returns will be printed for distribution to the different political parties, the PPCRV, other election watchdogs and the media.

When do we know the results of the voting in a clustered precinct?

The results of voting within a clustered precinct may be known as early as an hour after closure of voting at 7PM.

It is that fast because the PCOS machine reads, counts, and consolidates the votes while the voting is taking place.

About how many hours after the closure of the polls will we learn about the proclamation of winning candidates in a municipality?

Before the break of dawn on May 14, a good number of municipalities may already have their proclaimed winning candidates.

How will transparency in the May 13 Elections be ensured?

The election returns from every clustered precinct will be transmitted electronically to three servers: the server of board of canvassers in a municipality/city, the central server in Comelec and the transparency server for political parties and media.

Aside from the electronic transmission of the election returns, 30 hard copies of the election returns will be printed for distribution at the clustered precinct venue.
