MANILA, Philippines—Malacañang exhorted Filipinos to vote right on Monday and assured them of peaceful and blackout-free elections.
President Aquino is expected to vote in his home province of Tarlac and then monitor the conduct of the elections across the country.
“We reiterate our appeal: Go out and vote. Exercise your right to suffrage. Your vote is important; let’s vote right,” Abigail Valte, deputy presidential spokesperson, said over government-run dzRB yesterday.
Valte said police and soldiers had been deployed around the country, especially in violence-prone cities and municipalities, to maintain law and order, as well as prevent vote-buying.
She said that the Election Power Task Force had given assurances that there would be adequate supply of power on Monday and the succeeding days.—TJ Burgonio
