Widower shot dead outside apartment

A 52-year-old widower was gunned down by a still unidentified killer on Saturday night outside his apartment in Quezon City.

Manuel Bacaling Sr., a tenant at Building 14 of the MRB Compound Pilot Drive in Barangay Commonwealth, died instantly due to multiple gunshot wounds.

Police Officer 2 George Caculba of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit said that no witness to the shooting has surfaced.

Caculba said the incident happened at 7 p.m. on Saturday in front of Building 14 where Bacaling lived in unit 1441. His bullet-riddled body was found by his neighbor Gina Mojello several minutes after she heard gunfire.

According to the case investigator, Mojello was in her store when she heard several gunshots nearby.  She then found Bacaling who was lying face down on the pavement just in front of the building.
