TACLOBAN CITY—A candidate of the administration Team PNoy slate praised this city’s mayor for crossing party lines to support the entire senatorial ticket of President Aquino, saying it was a laudable act that would benefit the city.

Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano, who is running for reelection with Team PNoy, said Mayor Alfred Romualdez should be congratulated for giving his all-out support for Team PNoy.

“When it comes to the economy, all colors work together,”  Cayetano said.

“That is what the President has said—in politics, we belong to different parties but when it comes to the economy, we cooperate with each other,” he added.

Romualdez promised to carry the entire senatorial slate of Team PNoy during a recent rally for Nacionalista Party (NP) candidates  here.

“We are all here to campaign and support the entire Team PNoy’s senatorial candidates,” Romualdez said in the presence of NP stalwarts that included his cousin, Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

Aside from Cayetano, also present at the rally was Las Piñas Rep. Cynthia Villar, who is a member of NP and also part of Team PNoy.

The Marcoses and Romualdezes have been political rivals of the Aquinos.

Romualdez said it was not the first time that he had given his support to the administration of Aquino.

He said he was grateful for Mr. Aquino’s support for Tacloban City projects, like the rehabilitation of  Daniel Z. Romualdez  Airport, regardless of the political affiliation of city officials.
