PNP, Shell renew joint anti-crime accord

/ 05:57 PM August 12, 2011

MANILA, Philippines—Oil giant Pilipinas Shell Petroleum and the Philippine National Police have renewed an agreement meant to get the support of the private sector in crime prevention, PNP spokesman Agrimero Cruz Jr. said Friday.

In the agreement, Shell will provide a police corner in all its gas stations nationwide in a bid to curb crimes, Cruz said.

“To enhance police visibility, Shell stations will serve as extension of police community precincts or assistance centers for easier access of our police officers whenever problems occur,” said Directorate for Police Community Relations Police Director Rommel Heredia.

In the stations, police can also display posters of most wanted persons and other important announcements of the PNP, said Cruz. This will also serve as drop-off points for relief goods during calamities, he said.
