THE first leg of the two-day running event in Southern Cebu dubbed the “2nd Argao-Moalboal Highlands Endurance Run” will kick off today with around 500 long distance runners ready to take on the action in two distances.
Race director Joel Baring of the Sports and Fitness Enthusiasts (SAFE) said he did not expect to draw a huge number of participants in the race after they only targeted 300 runners initially.
The two-leg running event is organized by Argao town vice mayor Sardido Caminero.
The first leg will start at the Cebu Technological University (CTU) Moalboal Campus and will finish at the boundary of Argao and Moalboal at the Coal Mountain Resort. The second leg will start at the CTU-Argao campus all the way to the same finish line of the first leg.
Cash prizes are at stake for the winners of the race. The race is held inline with the celebration of the town’s upcoming fiesta.
The first leg will be featuring 10-kilometer and 18k distances. The final leg will offer three distances—3k, 11k and 23k. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
