A pair of shoes is apparently worth killing for.

The Quezon City police arrested Thursday night a 26-year-old woman who would allegedly kill for footwear worth P100.

Joy Acosta, 26, a resident of Bagumbong Dulo in Caloocan City, allegedly tried to stab a store owner who caught her stealing a black pair of women’s shoes.

When detained, Acosta made loud, angry outbursts and appeared to be mentally unstable, according to SPO1 Mar Dayan of the Quezon City Police District’s Novaliches station.

The woman was arrested on a complaint filed by Jovelyn Soriano, who operates a store selling shoes just outside her home on Quirino Highway, Barangay Gulod in Novaliches.

According to Dayan, Acosta showed up at the store around 9 p.m. Thursday, tried a pair on, then walked away still wearing the shoes without paying.

When confronted and dragged back to the store by one of Soriano’s workers, Acosta managed to grab a pair of scissors and tried to stab Soriano, complaint said.

The store owner was unscathed while Acosta was subdued and turned over to the police, who brought her to the city prosecutor’s office on Friday on charges of theft and attempted homicide.
