TALISAY City Mayor Socrates Fernandez urged his son to surrender. He denied knowledge of Joavan’s plan to bolt out of jail or having any hand in his escape.
“Igo na lang kung nagpatulo sa akong luha sa dihang akong nasayran ang balita nga nipuga diay siya gumikan kay nahadlok ug nabalaka ko kung unsa ang mahitabo kaniya,” Mayor Fernandez said in a phone interview.
(I couldn’t do anything but cry after learning about what happened. I fear for his safety and I’m very anxious about what could happen to him.)
The mayor said he was in Surigao province for a speaking engagement and was out of town when his son slipped out of jail.
The mayor appealed to Jovan to turn himself in.
“Ako naghangyo kang Dong Joavan nga mutahan nalang ug ato nalang tubagon ang mga reklamo batok niya pinaagi sa pagsumiter ug mga affidavit,” he said.
