TV reporter robbed in jeepney

MANILA, Philippines—Two men robbed a television reporter of around P7,000 worth of valuables, including electronic devices, near a church on Quezon Avenue, Quezon City on Wednesday morning.

Posing as passengers of a Fairview-bound jeepney, the robbers divested of his belongings People’s Television Network (Channel 4) traffic reporter Benjamin Bondoc, 21, who was on his way to work before they alighted from the vehicle in front of Sto. Domingo Church.

Quezon City Police District Galas station commander Supt. Norberto Babagay said the robbery happened at 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday near the corner of Banawe and Quezon avenues.

He added that the robbers took Bondoc’s bag which contained a cell phone worth P5,000, a flash disk worth P1,500 and a shirt priced at P500.

Bondoc immediately reported the robbery to the police. The station commander, meanwhile, assured the victim that follow-up operations were underway for the robbers’ arrest and the possible recovery of the stolen items.  With Bernadette Nicolas, Inquirer trainee
