Cavite exec says unidentified gunmen fired at his house
CAMP VICENTE LIM–Unidentified armed men opened fire at the house of Cavite provincial administrator and former Rosario town mayor Renato Abutan on Wednesday evening but no one was hurt, the official said on Thursday.
Abutan said four men on motorcycles fired at his home in Barangay (village) Silangan I around 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Abutan, who was also celebrating his 55th birthday Wednesday night, said he was at his parents’ house in Barangay Ligtong, about a kilometer from his home, also in Rosario, when the shooting took place.
He said only his sister and her child and the housekeeper were left at his home when the gunmen attacked. None of them was wounded from the shooting.
Abutan was mayor of Rosario town from 1998 to 2007. He is currently the provincial administrator for internal affairs under Cavite Gov. Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla.
Although he is no longer seeking any government post in the elections, Abutan is openly campaigning for the reelection of Remulla.
