CHARGES were filed by yesterday by the police against a mayoral candidate for the murder of a militiaman in Buenavista town, Bohol province five days ago.

TALISAY VENDORS GREET ALAYON SLATE WITH NOISE BARRAGE

MORE than 200 meat and fish vendors greeted the Alayon party contingent’s visit at the Lagtang public market with a noise barrage yesterday.

Vendors grabbed their weighing scales and other metal objects and slammed them on the concrete as the party slate tried to shake hands with the vendors in the market.

Paul Labalan, president of the Talisay City Meat Vendors Section, said the noise barrage was intended to vent their ire at being ignored by the Talisay City government’s refusal to relocate them to the old Tabunok market building years ago.

Labalan said they saw Rep. Eduardo Gullas of Cebu’s 1st district and Vice Mayor Alan Bucao outside the market premises.

Asst. Market Administrator Nora Dalisay criticized the vendors for being disrespectful.

“Kung dili sila ganahan sa mga kandidatu dili lang unta nila ingon atuon (If they’re not interested in the candidates, they shouldn’t have done that),” Dalisay said.

City Administrator and Alayon party campaign manager Ritchel Bacaltos said they are considering the plea of the vendors after Gullas held a consultation with them. Correspondent Gabriel C. Bonjoc ?
