Agpoon crowned Mr. Asia Pacific

Arsenio Boy Agpoon bested a stellar cast of foreign bodybuilders last Sunday to be crowned the 2013 Mr. Asia Pacific International Amateur Champion at the La Carmela Beach Resort in Boracay Island, Aklan.

The 40 year-old Ampoon, a multi-titled body builder, is currently based in Kuwait where he works as Trainer at the Platinum Gym.

Some 148 bodybuilders from 14 countries competed in the two-day competition organized by Cebu Workout Fitness Center’s Dennis Delgado and sanctioned by the NABBA International and Samahan ng mga Barbelista ng Pilipinas.

Filipina Lilibeth Ampal won the Ms. Fitness title relegating New Zealand’s Trudie Lelievre Houkamau and another Filipina Abigail Jimenez to second and third spots, respectively.

Meanwhile, Albin Remitares of Bulacan and Cebu City’s Spencer Lee booked a 1-2 Philippine finish in the tall class competition while Saudi Arabia’s Tarik Osama Al-Amoudi finished third.

In the medium tall class, India’s Raja Murgan finished first followed by Quezon City’s Clifford Cruz and Cebu City’s Dennis Nichole Delgado.

Topping the mixed pairs competition was New Zealand’s Darren Faulkner and Tamara Merriman followed by compatriots Mathew Matenga and Houkamau while Cebu City’s Farley Letegio and Emma Satchel landed in third place.

Merriman also captured the Ms. Shape crown.

Brunei’s PG Khalidshah won the Mr. Physique medium tall title while Manila’s Sandy Bontuyan pocketed the Mr. Physique short class crown.

In the Mr. Athletic competition, Quezon City’s Jhonald Romero finished first beating compatriots Marty Laoang and Harold Togeno.

The countries that competed this year included New Zealand, Thailand, Brunei, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Pakistan, Iran, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Hong Kong, Malaysia, United Kingdom, Nepal, India and Indonesia.
