MANILA, Philippines—The review of the “source code” for the 2013 midterm elections will begin Thursday, a top official of Smartmatic International said Wednesday.
Cesar Flores, president of Smartmatic Asia, said the review of the source code, or the readable computer program, that would be used by the 78,000 precinct count optical scan (PCOS) machines would begin Thursday.
“The review will start (Thursday) but it will finish after the elections,” Flores said in an interview.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) issued an advisory for a 9 a.m. press briefing Thursday with Comelec chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr. who reportedly would make a “big announcement.”—Philip C. Tubeza
