MANILA, Philippines — Former Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri topped the mock election held on Wednesday by employees of the Senate.
Of the 845 votes cast, 645 went to Zubiri followed by Cagayan Representative Jack Enrile, son of incumbent Senate President Juan Ponce-Enrile, with 615 votes, and re-electionist Senator Gregorio Honasan with 582 votes.
The three are all running for the Senate under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).
Former Senator Ramon “Jun” Magsaysay, who is running under Team PNoy, came in 4th place with 507 votes; 5th is former Senator Richard Gordon with 409; and 6th is former Puerto Princesa Mayor Edward Hagedorn with 346 votes.
Aurora Representative Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara ranked 7th with 290 votes; re-electionist Senator Loren Legarda is 8th with 231; former MTRCB chairperson Grace Poe is 9th with 230; re-electionist Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel is 10th with 225 votes; Bayan Muna Representative Teddy Casiño is 11th with 220 votes and San Juan Representative JV Ejercito is 12th with 209.
Three re-electionist senators did not make it to the Magic 12 and they were Francis “Chiz” Escudero, Alan Peter Cayetano and Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes IV.
Those who voted comprised only 52 percent of the 1,641 registered voters.
