Senate holds mock poll

MANILA, Philippines – A mock election was held in the Senate on Wednesday to get the pulse  of its employees  just five days before the  May 13 elections.

The  mock poll started at 9:00 a.m. and will end  at  3:00 p.m.

As of 12:00 p.m,   Alan Tablizo, chairman of the  committee on election in the Senate, reported that  578 of the 1,641 registered voters  have cast  their  votes .

Tablizo said the result of the election would be known at around 5:00 p.m.

The mock poll, organized by the Senate employee’s union, is being done in the chamber since  2007.

“Our aim is to campaign for a clean, honest and peaceful election. That’s our primary (objective). Second is to feel the pulse of the Senate employees,” he said.

Tablizo said family members of some of the candidates  like former Senators Juan Miguel Zubiri and  Ramon “Jun” Magsaysay Jr.  went to the Senate Tuesday  to campaign for them.
