Man dies after jumping in front of oncoming MRT train in Guadalupe

Operations still stalled as rescuers try to retrieve body

MANILA, Philippines — A man was killed in an apparent suicide after he allegedly jumped off from the train platform of a Metro Rail Transit Authority station in Makati City, police said.

Senior Superintendent Manuel Lukban, Makati police chief, said the still unidentified man suddenly jumped onto the northbound railway of the MRT Guadalupe station in front of an oncoming train at 8:18 a.m.

The man, estimated to be from 20 to 30 years old, was dragged for another 30 meters by the train.

“Bigla lang ito tumalon nung nakita niyang may paparating na tren,” Lukban said, adding that police officers and rescue teams were still working to pull out the body from under one of the coaches.

The man was seen wearing a dark maong short pants and a light blue T-shirt.
