Firm donates 3 houses to GK
A groundbreaking was held last Friday on the three housing units donated by Fluor, an American engineering and procurement company, to the Gawad Kalinga in barangay Maguikay, Mandaue City.
Fluor donated an additional three houses worth P120,000 each as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR). Last year, the company also donated two housing units.
Mandaue Mayor Jonas Cortes, City Councilor Elstone Dabon, Fluor general manager German Camigla and GK Mandaue coordinator Ernesto Gamboa attended the event.
“The company will construct the framework, flooring and the bathroom of the houses, while the recipient families will take charge of the house partitions and ceilings,” said city public information officer Roger Paler.
The beneficiaries were identified by the San Miguel Urban Dwellers Homeowners Association based in Maguikay as the poorest of the poor.
The GK Maguikay has now a total of 70 houses, including the 13 houses from Ateneo de Cebu Alumni Association that are still under construction and the three from Fluor.
