MANILA, Philippines—The Liberal Party ticket in Manila has chosen Plaza Hernandez in Tondo for its miting de avance scheduled on Thursday afternoon, which will be led by President Benigno Aquino III.
Reelectionist Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim said LP’s senatorial candidates are also expected to attend the local political rally.
Lim said he chose the plaza in front of Sto. Niño Church because he was born in Tondo.
“Kung sinasabi ng aking mga kalaban sa pulitika na pugad ng kriminal ang Tondo, ako naman, taas-noo kong ipinagmamalaki na ako ay taga-Tondo at tubong Tondo. (If my foes in politics are saying that Tondo is a haven of criminals, then I am proud to declare I am from Tondo and grew up in Tondo),” he said.
“I believe that the people of Tondo are good and this is why we are having our miting de avance here,” Lim added.
Lim, together with running mate Councilor Lou Veloso, city council and congressional bets, will present the highlights of his administration and what he intends to do in the next three years, vowing to continue his flagship “womb to tomb” social service program and to commit to President Aquino’s “tuwid na daan” (straight path or good governance) policy.
