MANILA, Philippines — The vehicle of the incumbent mayor of Viga in Catanduandes was shot by an unknown attacker Monday afternoon, the military said in a report Tuesday.

Mayor Abelardo Abundo Sr., with his wife and some supporters, were aboard a dark blue Kia Pregio van on its way to his residence in Soboc village when it was hit with a single shot past 2p.m., said Major Angelo Guzman of the Army’s 9th Infantry Division.

A single shot  of a caliber .45 was fired at the van, hitting the left window glass near the driver, straight through the dashboard and the windshield.
