NOMINATIONS for the 1st Mayor Mariano Mercado Public Service Award for Outstanding Carcar City Barangay Captain is now ongoing.
The search, which is open to any barangay chief from the city’s 15 barangays who has served for at least one term, was launched to recognize a village leader who did not only work to bring material progress to his village but also serves as an inspiration to his colleagues and constituents.
Nomination forms are available at the Association of Barangay Captains office in Carcar City and at the Mercado Mansion in Poblacion, Carcar City.
Don Mariano Mercado is a former mayor of Carcar who was admired for his dedication as a public servant.
It was also during his various terms in office that he built the rotunda, swimming pool, Rizal monument and the old dispensary, all of which serve as cultural landmarks of the city even to this day.
The deadline for submission of nominations will be on Aug. 26 and awarding will be held on Sept. 8, the 134th birth anniversary of the late Mayor Mercado at the Carcar City Museum.
