Kenyans still red-hot in Cebu running

THE KENYANS continued their dominance in Cebu’s streets as they ruled the Dash For A Scholar running event yesterday  in Mandaue City.

James Mebei led the Kenyan side as he topped the 12k men’s race after crossing the finish line at Parkmall in 41 minutes and 45 seconds. Compatriot Abraham Missous placed second just four seconds behind while Davao City’s Joebert Carolino grabbed third place (43:25).

Douglas Mwiti completed the dominance of the Kenyans as he won the 6k men’s race in 20 minutes and 15 seconds. Robert Daang placed second (20:47) while Francis Kakui added another win for the Kenyans by placing third (21:03).

Cebuana Mary Joy Tabal won the 12k women’s race with a time of 47 minutes and 57 seconds.

FEATURED STORIES

Cherry clocked 25 minutes and 33 seconds to win the 6k crown while Bonifacio Monjas (9:48)  and Mary Joy Loberanis (12:12) took home the 3k titles.

Around a thousand runners joined the running event yesterday, which aimed to raise funds for the scholarship program of Lyceum de Sebastian Inc. and the Don Bosco Boys Home, Formation Center, and Youth Center. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
