KUALA LUMPUR—Malaysia’s ruling coalition has won control of parliament, the country’s Election Commission said Monday, after a tough fight with a rising opposition that hoped to hand the regime its first-ever loss.

The ruling Barisan Nasional (National Front) coalition had secured 112 parliamentary seats, the threshold required to form a government, it said.
