No date yet for Cuello’s title fight

PROMOTER Aljoe Jaro is still waiting confirmation for the final date and venue for the long awaited title shot between his prized fighter, Denver ‘The Excitement’ Cuello and WBC strawweight champion champion Xiong Zhao Zhong of China.

Jaro travelled to Thailand to meet with Zhong’s camp and negotiate the title fight.

Jaro informed Cebu Daily News that he initially received word that the fight will be in July in China but he was also informed that it may happen in June, either in China or Dubai.

Zhong (20W-4L-1D, 11 KOs) won the vacant title last November by unanimous decision over Javier  Martinez Resendiz of Mexico.

Cuello (33W-4L-6D, 21 KO’s), a southpaw from Iloilo and the mandatory challenger, won by majority decision over Japanese Takashi Kunishige last April 7 in Osaka, Japan. /Correspondent Rene Bonsubre Jr.
