MANILA, Philippines—Firefighters continued to battle the fire in a neighborhood in Navotas City Saturday afternoon, nearly three hours after it broke out, the authorities said.
As of 3:45 p.m. firemen were still trying to put out the fire that struck a row of concrete and wooden houses on Buenaventura Street in Navotas’ Barangay Tangos, Fire Officer 2 Amado Ignacio said.
The blaze, which began at 1:25 p.m., reached the fifth alarm at 1:45 p.m., Ignacio said. It was placed under control at 2:22 p.m.
“The fire is big so the firemen are still there, trying to completely extinguish the flames,” he said.
