Gumban, Ocon make weight, fight tonight

UP and coming prospect Melvin Gumban (13W-0L, 6 KOs) is all set to battle tough Fernando “Batang Bato” Ocon (10W-4L, 2 KOs) in the main event of the ALA-Cobra “Tunay na Lakas” fight card on Saturday May 4 at the Mandaue City Plaza.

Three of Gumban’s last five fights ended via the short route but Ocon has never been knocked out.

Gumban, who fights out of the ALA Gym, weighed in at 116 lbs while Ocon, from the RWS Gym, stepped on the scales at 115.5 lbs during the official weigh-in held yesterday at the Pacific Mall in Mandaue City which was supervised by Rolando Mendoza and Glen Agena of GAB-Cebu.

There will be six more pairs of pro boxers scheduled to see action in the fight card held as one of the activities lined up by the Mandaue City government for its upcoming fiesta celebration.
