PNP willing to help NBI to recapture Mancao

MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine National Police said it is willing to work with the National Bureau of Investigation to recapture former Police Senior Superintendent Cezar Mancao who escaped from the NBI custody before dawn Thursday.

Speaking to reporters, Chief Superintendent Generoso Cerbo Jr. said the PNP has yet to receive a formal report on the incident, but said that it will coordinate with NBI in order to plot possible actions to take.

Reports had it that Mancao, who was scheduled to be transferred to the Manila City Jail, escaped past 1 a.m. Thursday.

In a radio interview, NBI Deputy Director Reynaldo Esmeralda said Mancao even left a letter which read: “Please do not touch my things without doing inventory. I am just a victim of injustice.”
