Widow of Camanava’s most wanted man faces drug raps
Charges of illegal drug possession will be filed against the wife of the most wanted man in the Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela area following her arrest after the death of her husband in a shootout with the police.
SPO1 Fidel Cabinta of the Northern Police District’s Anti-Illegal Drugs section said 19-year-old Magdalena Ignacio yielded a still undetermined amount of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” on Tuesday morning.
This was after her husband, Michael Ignacio alias “Bulag,” shot it out with policemen who tried to serve him with a warrant for his arrest in the couple’s shanty in Dagat-Dagatan, Caloocan City.
The police said Magdalena would undergo a drug test and should she test positive, she would also be charged with illegal drug use.
Michael, who was likewise identified by the police as one of the most wanted man in Metro Manila, was being sought by authorities for multiple cases, including murder, robbery and illegal drug possession filed in different courts in the Camanava area.
However, the 22-year-old suspect opened fire on the arresting officers after they surrounded his house. They returned fire, hitting him in the chest and abdomen. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Several firearms, grenades and packets which contained a substance believed to be shabu were seized from Michael who was also reportedly a gun-for-hire. With a report from Marc Alejo, trainee
