MANILA, Philippines—The bid to block former President Joseph Estrada to run as mayor of Manila is not yet over.
This, after Atty. Alicia Risos-Vidal went to the Supreme Court questioning the decision of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) that dismissed with finality her disqualification complaint against the former president.
At the same time, Risos-Vidal also asked the high court to issue a temporary restraining order to the Comelec from implementing its decision.
In her petition, she insisted that Estrada’s conviction for plunder rendered him not qualified to run for public office.
Early this month, Comelec denied Risos-Vidal’s bid saying they already ruled on the same issue when they allowed Estrada to seek the presidency again in 2010.
