Intensity 5.4 quake rocks Northern Luzon
No damages, casualties reported
MANILA, Philippines – A 5.4 magnitude quake hit Northern Luzon shortly before noon Thursday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Siesmology (Phivolcs) said.
The quake, which was of tectonic origin and had a depth of 16 kilometers, hit 37 kilometers west of Calayan Island in Cagayan province at 10:56 AM.
Intensity 4 was felt in Calayan, Cagayan while intensity 3 was recorded in Sanchez Mira, Cagayan. Meanwhile, Intensity 2 was felt in Pasuquin and Laoag in Ilocos Norte, Phivolcs said.
No damages and casualties were reported. Aftershocks may be expected, Phivolcs said.
