Lanao del Norte ambush death toll now 13

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines—The death toll in Thursday’s ambush on the campaign party of Mayor Abdulmalik Manarampan of Nunungan, Lanao del Norte, has risen to 13 with the death of one of the injured victims, the military said Saturday.

Brigadier General Daniel Lucero, commander of the 1st Infantry Division based in Zamboanga del Sur, which has jurisdiction over Lanao del Norte, did not identify the 13th fatality.

But Lucero said Manarampan, who was among the eight injured victims, was in stable condition and continued to recuperate at an undisclosed medical facility.
