/ 07:37 AM April 27, 2013

THE SAN MIGUEL Beermen try to make it 13 in a row today when they face off against the Saigon Heat in the Asean Basketball League at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The Beermen are the hottest team in the tournament so far, having rattled off 12 straight wins with the last one coming against the resilient Sports Rev Thailand Slammers, 78-70.

San Miguel had to scrape and claw in its last game. The Beermen caught fire in the fourth period behind reserve guard Paolo Hubalde, who helped secure the team’s 14th win in 17 games.

Former PBA MVP Asi Taulava continued his resurgence as he scored 18 points on top of five rebounds and six assists. Leo Avenido added 15 while Hubalde contributed 14, 11 of which coming in the final stretch.

The Heat, on the other hand, are in dire straits, having won just three of their 16 games this season, including a 63-77 stinker to the Indonesia Warriors Thursday night. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
