UV eyes first round sweep

THE defending champions Prime Asia-University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers gun for a sweep of the first round when they tackle the hapless Raphael’s Sports Bar-University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars today in the 2013 Enervon-Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) Partner’s Cup at the Cebu Coliseum.

The Green Lancers have so far been in a class of their own in this competition, racking up five wins in a row. More impressive is the fact that they have swept through the rest of their assignments without experiencing any solid stand from the other competing teams.

Prime Asia is expected to do more of the same today especially against a Raphael’s squad that is seemingly lost and looking for answers following four straight losses. Their last defeat certainly hurt as the Jaguars wasted a 12-point advantage in the final canto to eventually lose to the Cebu Landmasters-University of San Carlos Warriors, 78-79.

In the second game, the Gaisano Capital South-University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters hope to solidify their hold of second place in the standings when they tangle with the struggling Lion Tiger-University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Panthers.

UC is standing in second place with a 3-1 (win-loss) record while USPF is at the near-bottom with a 1-3 card. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
