Flores Cup fencing set

MEMBERS of the Cebu Fencing League (CFL) will trade feints and parries in the strip against guest fencers from Manila today in a two-day fencing competition dubbed The Flores Cup at the Sacred Heart Sports Center.

The tournament, which starts 9 a.m., will have Under 17 Boys and Girls Foil, Under 17 Boys and Girls Epee and the Open Men’s and Women’s Foil competition. Qualifiers for the finals will face off at the Ayala Activity Center tomorrow.

This competition marks the CFL’s return after almost a five-year hiatus.

The Cebu Fencing League intends to groom Cebu’s fencers into premier athletes by organizing monthly competitions and advanced training while providing support to smaller fencing clubs and schools. /correspondent mark tongco
