THE Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) was adjudged the best police station in Central Visayas and ranked fourth overall in the country.
Senior Supt. Noel Gillamac, director of MCPO, said implementing programs like Oplan Bakal and Oplan Kalikasan and its aggressive campaign against criminality and illegal drugs helped the police win the award given by the national headquarters of the Philippine National Police.
The MCPO also has programs to improve community relations.
Gillamac said some may question the MCPO for unsolved cases but solving crimes is not only the responsibility of the police but by the entire community.
No matter how hard they try, Gillamac said there are just cases that are difficult to solve.
“Policemen are also human beings. We don’t possess super human powers. Although expectations from us are high, we still need support from the stakeholders. It’s everybody’s concern,” Gillamac said.
“We accomplished so much in 2010. Naa lang jud problems nga dili ma-solve,” he added.
Gillamacs said there are crimes that are committed out of poverty and these are the ones that are hard to stop.
The city director thanked Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes for providing MCPO the needed equipment like motorcycles, cars and firearms.
“We can deliver in our job to ensure public safety but it needs discipline, commitment, and dedication from the policemen to accomplish it, diha ta gasugod,” Gillamac said./REPORTER JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS
