MANILA, Philippines—Motorcycle-riding gunmen killed a woman who was the president of her neighborhood association right inside her house in Quezon City on Thursday afternoon, police said.

Delfina Macapagal, 56, died from two gunshot wounds in the head following the shooting at her home on Kamagong Street, Barangay Commonwealth.

Case investigator PO2 Alvin Quisumbing said the woman was the president of the Kamagong-Kasoy Homeowners Association and police trying to find out if the killing, an almost daily occurrence in Quezon City, was related to her position in the community.

Quisumbing said the man was heard shouting, “Yuko, yuko! Puputukan ko kayo, pulis ako! (Duck, duck. I’ll fire at you; I’m a cop!),” apparently to ward off curious bystanders.

Witnesses then saw the two gunmen boarding a motorcycle and sped away from the crime scene, leaving behind the wounded Macapagal.
