1 killed, 2 wounded in Cavite ambush

MANILA, Philippines—One was killed and two others wounded, including a village chief, in an alleged ambush in Cavite Thursday evening, police said Friday.

Chief Superintendent Benito Estipona, Calabarzon police regional director, said the incident transpired in Barangay (village) Queensrow West, Bacoor City around 8 p.m. after the group of village chief Catherine Palabrica, 44, was attacked by two still unidentified motorcycle-riding suspects.

Estipona said Catherine, and her two companions—Roberto Palabrica and Reynaldo Primero—were wounded.

Catherine was taken to St. Dominic Hospital in Bacoor City, while the two others were rushed to South Asian Medical Center in Molino.

An updated advisory, however, said Roberto, Catherine’s driver, died while undergoing treatment, while Primero remained in critical condition.

A manhunt operation was launched to arrest the suspects.
