PCOS machines arrive in Cebu

All Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines to be used for the May 13 election in Cebu have arrived last Wednesday.

Cebu Provincial election supervisor Eddie Aba said the machines are now stored in a secured area prior to its delivery to the polling precincts.

The machines will be moved to the different towns and cities in the province on May 7 and 8 for final testing and sealing, said Aba.

Arthur Patiga, election assistant of the Cebu provincial Comelec office, said there are 3,169 PCOS machines intended for Cebu province based on the number of the total clustered precincts in the province.

Based on records, Patiga said, around 2,898 PCOS machines have arrived last Monday.

Aba said the remaining 271 PCOS machines arrived last Wednesday.

The PCOS machines are temporarily stored in the warehouse of 2GO Courier Service. In Cebu City. 2Go shipped in the machines from Cabuyao, Laguna.

Aba said they have already coordinated with the police for the security of the machines.

Patiga said the final testing and sealing may not be conducted in every polling precinct.

Patiga said the Cebu Comelec office has requested the Comelec regional office to allow the final testing and sealing in just one secure venue in a certain town or city.

After the final testing and sealing, the PCOS machines should be secured by policemen until the election day. /Jhunnex Napallacan, Correspondent
