AFTER breaking through with their first win of the competition last Wednesday, the Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras hope to follow it up with another when they face off against the Letran Knights today in the 2013 Filoil Flying V Hanes Preseason Cup at the Arena in San Juan City.
After struggling off the gates with four straight losses, the reigning Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) champions finally broke through and got their first win of the tournament with a 74-64 victory over the Lyceum Pirates. The win put the Cobras at 1-4 (win-loss).
With their confidence high, the Cobras have the Knights in their sights for their second win in a row.
However, the Knights present numerous challenges in the face of the speedy Mark Cruz, the towering Raymund Almazan and rookie sensation Rey Nambatac.
SWU will try to counter with their African trio of Justin Aboude, Fabrice Siewe and Landry Sanjo who had 11 points and 15 rebounds against the Pirates.
In other games, the La Salle Green Archers aim for their third straight win when they take on the San Sebastian Stags while the Ateneo Blue Eagles vie for their sixth win in seven games when they tackle the Pirates.
Ateneo logged its fifth win last time out with a 77-72 victory over the University of the East Red Warriors.
