2 Revilla supporters dead, 1 hurt in Cavite shooting

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna—Two people were killed and a third one, a barangay official, was wounded when  unidentified armed men fired at a group of supporters of Bacoor City Mayor Strike Revilla on Thursday evening.

An initial report from the police identified the slain men as Bobby Palabrica and Reynaldo Premero.

The third victim, Catherine Palabrica, the head of Barangay Queen’s Row Central, was wounded in the attack and was admitted to the St. Dominic hospital in Bacoor.

Cavite police information officer Supt. Rommel Estolano, in a phone interview, said the victims were on their way home in a sport utility vehicle when they were fired on by three men on a motorcycle around 8 p.m. in Barangay Queen’s Row West.

Estolano refused to give further details for the moment, saying an investigation was still ongoing.

Amelia Manzo, a member of the staff of Sen. Ramon Revilla Jr., said they would issue a statement on the incident later Friday.

Senator Revilla, a movie actor, is a brother of the Bacoor mayor and the husband of Bacoor Rep. Lani Mercado, also an actress turned politician.

The senator’s son, Jolo, is running for vice governor of Cavite in the May elections.
