P15-M ready-to-wear clothes destroyed in warehouse fire in QC
MANILA, Philippines — Almost P15 million in ready-to-wear clothing was destroyed in an early morning fire, which razed a building Thursday morning in Quezon City.
The blaze hit the Extra Ordinaire warehouse, owned by a certain Pacita Ho, on Sta. Catalina Street in Barangay (village) Sienna at around 4:55 am.
Senior Fire Officer 2 Fortunato Alde, the fire investigator, said the two-story structure was a mixed use residential-commercial unit, which was also being used as storage for RTW clothing.
Injured was a caretaker, Rodrigo Ruiz, 28, who hit his head while trying to salvage some belongings from the fire.
The fire broke out on the first floor of the structure. The caretaker recalled that at around 4 a.m., the lights suddenly went out, followed by flames.
Alde learned that the fire quickly spread through the storage area, eating up RTW clothes in its path.
