Fire razes garments warehouse in Quezon City
MANILA, Philippines—Roughly P15 million worth of properties went up in smoke when fire gutted a warehouse in Quezon City early Thursday, a city fire officer said.
Senior Fire Officer 3 Jose Felipe Areza said the fire razed to the ground the two-storey warehouse at No. 107 Sta. Catalina Street in Barangay (village) Sienna in Quezon City shortly before 5 a.m.
He said the warehouse, owned by Pacita Hao, had ready-to-wear garments.
However, a radio report quoted village chief Apple de Jesus as saying that Hao didn’t have a permit for a warehouse, adding that the structure was declared only as residential.
Investigators have yet to determine what caused the blaze, Areza said, but noted that it may have started at the middle portion of the first floor.
The fire reached third alarm before it was put out at 7:20 a.m.
