Beermen look to extend winning streak

THE SAN Miguel Beermen aim to keep the good times rolling with an 11th straight victory when they duke it our versus the Sports Rev Thailand Slammers today in the ASEAN Basketball League at the Nimbutr Stadium in Bangkok.

The Beermen are standing at the top of the standings with a league-best 13-3 (win-loss) record and have not lost since Feb. 17.

With the playoffs quickly looming on the horizon, San Miguel is looking to gain some more momentum and shore up their bid for their first-ever title in this league.

However, the Beermen might have to go to war without their top scorer, Fil-Italian guard Chris Banchero, who is sidelined for one to two weeks because of a thigh injury.

He is expected to miss today’s match as well as Saturday’s match against the Saigon Heat.

Expected to step up is former PBA MVP, Asi Taulava, who at age 40, scored 26 points in their 80-62 win over the Westport Malaysia Dragons last time out. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
